Ngutungka Henley

We have been working in close consultation with the City of Charles Sturt to develop the design for Ngutungka Henley which seeks to revitalise this iconic coastal site and transform it into an activated and connected community precinct. Consolidating library and community services, Ngutungka Henley has been designed with a strong focus on the user experience and seeks to create a more welcoming and integrated journey, connecting to the streetscape, the neighbouring RSL building and the broader public realm.

Celebrating the layered history of this site, Ngutungka Henley incorporates the renewal of the much loved State Heritage listed Henley Town Hall and Soldiers Memorial into an integrated component of this public precinct. Bringing together community and library programs on this established civic site, the revitalisation of this precinct seeks to create a place for gathering, reflection and shared connections, taking inspiration from the terrain of the coastline and the sand dunes as a place of shelter. This design has been heavily informed by our co-design process with the City of Charles Sturt, local residents, community groups and Council staff as well as the RSL and local schools.
