Capella Reserve

Responding to the topographical context of the coastal suburb of Hallett Cove, the reinvigoration of Capella Reserve provides valuable open space for the local community to partake in active recreation. Our design response is inspired by the strong geological formations of Hallett Cove and seeks to improve biodiversity while providing infrastructure that encourages the public to spend more time outdoors. Capella Reserve now provides a diverse range of offerings including a skate park, bouldering and climbing facilities, parkour equipment along with adventure and nature play infrastructure.

This project has involved collaboration with skate designers Convic and artist, Seb Humphreys, to develop bespoke, urban elements into the reserve. Through community consultation and engagement, the design for Capella Reserve has developed into an active youth hub and regional destination with environmental value, nature based and programmed recreation at its core.
